Should big tech companies be broken up?
The federal government has the power to protect consumers from companies that become unlawful monopolies and engage in anticompetitive behavior.
Recent investigations at the state and federal levels have focused on large technology companies like Google, Facebook and Amazon and whether they have unfairly suppressed competition and harmed consumers.
This deliberation has students learn about monopolies, competition and the federal government’s ability to enforce antitrust laws.
Students will apply these concepts to current issues with big tech companies by answering the question: Should big tech companies be broken up?
